At the peak of Spanish Empire, my beloved Philippines was intimately linked with Mexico. The then infamous Galleon Trade traversed back-and-forth between the Philippines’ capital city of Manila and Acapulco in Mexico.

But I will not write about Mexico’s commerce then, the Aztecs or Hernan Cortez and conquistadores. Instead, I will write about my sojourn at its famous Cozumel Island that I visited in 2006. It was the first Latin/South American country where I saw a real pyramid!
