Beijing is such a fascinating capital city of China and I have had many experiences here. Beijing, which literally means ‘Northern Capital’, was established as such in 1403 during the Ming Dynasty.

In my next blogs, I shall share some reflections that include: (1) tasting the best Peking duck in a restaurant where foreign dignitaries dined in such as former President Fidel Castro of Cuba; and (2) my amazement when a taxi driver issued me a tax-metered receipt as early as 2001.

I had a chance to also visit other areas, such as Tianjin. I can’t help but simply pity Philippine’s train system with the efficiency and/or amenities of Tianjin’s train system.
