Norway

In my 1994 conference trip to Bodo, Norway, I experienced a whole day without darkness for the first time. There was indeed 24-hours of daylight. We had to drape our windows with curtains to enable ourselves to sleep!

I also had a brief chat with the late Dr. Elinor Ostrom, the American Nobel Prize winner for economics. She was quite popular with her works about the commons, and among the brains behind the paradigm of institutional analysis and development (IAD). For an academic of her stature and outstanding contribution as a researcher, she was an epitome of both brilliancy and humbleness.
